Kew’s visitors often don’t realise that it’s much more than a pretty garden. Behind the scenes and in the field, hundreds of scientists do world-leading research to discover more about the plant world and protect it for future generations. To uncover and tell these stories I commissioned Lonelyleap to make a series of short films for display in the Garden and publication online.
The result has been five beautiful, engaging and sometimes quirky films: The Fungarium, The Millennium Seed Bank, The Forgotten Home of Coffee, The Crop Wild Relatives Project, and The Plant Family Tree. The series has been extremely successful for Kew – attracting tens of thousands of new viewers, winning Best Brand Communications at the 2013 IVCA Awards, twice being a Vimeo staff pick, getting an exclusive feature at Nowness and also a collection for schools at the Ri Channel.
